Day 36

I went for a bike ride last night. I must have cycled, well roughly, I think, about a mile. I ended up in almost the lowest gear. Before I set off I had a route planned of about 4 miles of gentle scenic cycling on the flat mostly. I had to turn back not far from home. I cant believe how weak I am. So now I seriously need to start a regular programme. A little further and faster each day.
I guess being in hospital for a few weeks and sitting round on my a**e for the last few months has contributed to a lot of muscle wastage, despite my best efforts to stay (I thought) fit.
Message to all you Myeloma people out there. Take as much exercise as you feel able. Little and often. Keep your strength up.
A friend of mine is about to embark on and end to end cycle ride (Land's end to John O'Groats). He's based in Amsterdam so is sponsored for a Dutch cancer charity. I'll put a link to it here when he sends it to me.
R's last A level exam today.

Charles,
Good news to hear that you're cycling again. Keep building that stamia up. Sorry to hear about Margaret. I say get another chicken. Hope the hair and vegetables start sprouting soon.

Charles was walking down the sidewalk one day when his friend, DL, rode up on an incredible shiny new bicycle.
Charles was stunned by his friend's sweet ride and asked, "WOW! Where did you get such a nice bike?"
DL replied, "Well, yesterday I was walking home, minding my own business, when a beautiful woman rode up to me on this bike. She threw the bike to the ground, took off all her clothes and said, 'Take what you want!'"
Charles nodded approvingly, "Good choice. The clothes probably wouldn't have fit."

Hang Tough,
Gerry

Charles,

Glad to see you can get out on your bicycle. Pity you can't go as far as you want but that will come with time.
I cycle to the Bowling Club and back. Coming back is easier after a pint or two.

George.
PS. Glad to see you took the cycle as I can't imagine you in a dress.

Hi Charles
Hope you've had a lovely fathers day. Looking forward to seeing you and J soon. Oliver has just done his first full week at work, think the early starts have been a bit of a shock! Otherwise all seems to be going well.
Hope your feeling stronger by the day. Take care
Karen xxxx

I wish I had a joke to write. I am sorry I have been absent for a bit. Life is hectic over here as well. I think about you every day and am so very glad to read how well you are doing! bike riding! Does this mean when you get back to NL we can hop on our bikes with Belle and tool around town? or further?
I am hitting the home stretch here in the US and am currently in Clinton Illinois visiting with corn and soy folks. Today I hit the road in my little red camry towards Ames Iowa woo hoo :)

Belle blue eyes is doing wonderfully. She is walking and doing her best to talk. SHe has some words down pat (hi, dag!, dank!, mam, mama, dat, yesh) and some that seem to come out randomly (juice, ball). Pup Pup means i want up, i want down, sit down with me, pick me up, put me there, put me down :)

She has said Opa and Oma on occasion, but not regularly but she sure knows what everything means.

I cant wait for you to meet her. Do you think End of August you might be up for a visit? as I have to be in JH for something. Perhaps I can bring Belle and we can shoot over your way?

I miss you! And I am so glad you are doing well! Promise to keep better tabs...

hugs
me and B

Charlie - what happened to days 37 - 43? I know you are out there - Sam said you were either lost in the garden (?) or out on your bike.

As mentioned in the call - for the Lands End to John O Groats ride have now created a just giving page. Having checked the spelling have officially opened it:
http://www.justgiving.com/lejog-leukaemia-research/

I'll buy a pint for the first sponsor...

Keep pedalling, Charlie
